Stonewall works to elect supportive Democrats
by Jason Lansdale
Columbus Stonewall Democrats of Central Ohio was established in 1997 for three purposes. First is ensuring sensitivity, understanding and support for issues of importance to the GLBT community.
Second is educating, promoting and electing Democratic candidates who support such issues.
The third is organizing, educating and energizing the GLBT community to work for, support and elect these Democratic candi-. dates..
There are over 150 official members of the group, which is one of 70 national chapters of the National Stonewall Democrats. It has been very active in the debate on the Ohio Defense of Marriage Act passed in March, with members testifying and organizing rallies at the Statehouse. The group has been active in both supporting our Democratic elected officials and taking action against

those who vote against our community.
The future will be no different, as we will execute on an aggressive effort to turn out the GLBT vote for the Democratic ticket.
